Dibleys Nurseries in North Wales is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and is commemorating the event with the commercial launch of the Streptocarpus Polka-Dot Purple.
Rex Dibley started the nursery in 1976 and was joined by his son Gareth in 1984 and daughter Lynne.
The nursery has won a number of RHS Gold Medals, including receiving their 26th Chelsea RHS Gold Medal in 2015, and has won a large gold medal in every national and international garden festival in Britain.
The Streptocarpus Polka-Dot Purple was bred by Lynne and was voted the best houseplant in the 2015 Chelsea Plant of the Year competition.
Polka-Dot Purple will be available to garden centres as a 12cm pot plant from Easter onwards and will retail between Β£11.99 and Β£12.99.
Rex said: βIt is hard to believe it is now forty years since I turned a hobby into a small business. We have come a long way in that time.
βIn 1976 Streptocarpus was little known and I decided they were underrated and deserved to be more popular and also they were great fun to propagate.β
