Three Peakers Ride Again: Snowdon to Lands End

by | 10 Mar 16 | News

Following the success of the 3 Peaks Extreme in 2013, which raised over £26,000 for Perennial, the only charity dedicated to help all UK horticulturists in times of need, a team of landscapers, designers, plants people and horticultural suppliers has reformed for another grueling fundraising challenge. This year the team hopes to raise £50,000, a life-changing amount of money that will significantly help Perennial support more horticulturists and their families, through life’s many challenges.

Three Peakers Ride Again: Snowdon to Lands End will see two teams set off from Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon on 19 September, one on road and one off road, for an ultimate 6-day battle between the cycling disciplines, taking in some stunning scenery and no doubt a few public inns along the way. Half of the group will be on road bikes and the other half on mountain bikes, meeting each night to exchange stories. On the final day, the teams will be united over the finish line at Lands End.

Brian Herbert, MD of Outdoor Options and long-time supporter of Perennial, said: “The 3 Peaks Extreme was the most amount of fun I’ve ever had in lycra, despite having to ride 450 miles and climb the three highest peaks in the UK in just 6 days! I can’t wait for this year’s challenge and would encourage anyone with a love of cycling – on or off road – to get in touch with us and find out more. We’re supporting the only charity that looks after all those working in or retired from horticulture and we’d love to have a few more riders or sponsors on board!”

The event is fully supported with top professional guides, Passion In Events (PIE). This is a remarkable opportunity to ride with champions of both the road and MTB world, hone your skills and learn from the experts. Also included are support vehicles and tour leaders. Each day you will receive breakfast at the hotel before setting off, morning and afternoon refreshment stops while on the ride, a substantial lunch, plus dinner and accommodation each night.

Your Commitment

There are four great sponsors on board, Bowles & Wyer, Silverland Stone, London Stone and Garden Link and the team is looking for two more sponsors to bring rider costs down. Get in touch if you think you can help.

The team is also looking for more riders – do you have what it takes? To ensure the event delivers the maximum benefit to Perennial, there is an entrance fee and a minimum sponsorship requirement.

  • Total entrance fee £1,200 – £1,500 (This figure will depend on final numbers and sponsorship)
  • A non-returnable deposit of £600 is required with your application.
  • Each rider is also expected to raise a minimum of £2,000 in donations for the charity.
