A promising future
Just like the future of the country following the EU Referendum, efig’s immediate future rests with their newly elected team. Chris Jenkin commented, βAs well as focusing on marketing and getting more members taking an active part in the association, Iβd like to meet as many members as possible and find out what they want from their trade association.β
Chris also thanked out-gong Chairman, Ian Drummond creative director at Indoor Garden Design Ltd, for his time three years in office and steering the association through the last few years.
A new initiative/you’re really spoiling us
The newly elected committee also launched a new initiative to mark efig’s 15 years. A number of past efig Chairmen were offered Ambassador status to celebrate their past involvement and support.
In return, efig expects Ambassadors to promote the industry and efig when and wherever possible. There are a number of ways they can do this:
Inspiring the young generation about the profession; support efig events; encourage learning and personal development within their own company; promote the benefits of plants wherever possible; encourage their company to take part in efig campaigns; get involved in efig annual awards.
Ian Drummond was the first past-Chairman to be honoured receiving a certificate from Chris Jenkin to mark his new role.
“I’m honoured to receive this status and will continue to promote the industry and efig in particular, wherever possible. Those of you that know me, realise my passion for the industry and know this will not be hard for me.”
Other past chairmen accepting the role include
- Kenneth Freeman of Ambius
- Alan Page, Franchise Director of Urban Planters
- Tom Palfreyman, MD of Urban Planters Franchise
- Andrew Bradley, Flora-tec Ltd
efig will appoint Ambassadors on an annual basis at the AGM and at certain ad hoc other occasions as agreed by the committee. Ambassadors can be those who have worked tirelessly for the industry or others with a special interest in this area.
