Award-winning garden designer, Charlie Albone, is replanting his Chelsea Flower Show creation outside the Royal Garden Hotel on Kensington High Street for guests to enjoy.
The Husqvarna Garden, which was awarded a silver-gilt medal at this yearβs event, was inspired by his Australian roots, and based on Federation Square in Melbourne. It was designed with a European formality matched to Antipodean colours, featuring leucadendro, grevillea, Acacia, an emu bush and Buxus plant β the latter of which was in fact commented on by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Charlie overhead Kate say to William, βbabe, weβve got loads of those.β
The garden is being given a new life and will remain outside the hotel until the end of summer.
Charlie Albone, who also won silver-gilt at last yearβs show and is a long-standing friend of the Royal Garden Hotel, said: βI am delighted that Support: The Husqvarna Garden can live on at the Royal Garden Hotel. It is a great opportunity to have my garden displayed where it can be enjoyed by the general public. I would like to thank the Royal Garden Hotel for the opportunity to showcase my garden.β
Jonathan Lowrey, general manager of the Royal Garden Hotel, added: βWeβre big fans of the Chelsea Flower Show, and wanted to use our 50th anniversary as an opportunity to do something extra special at the hotel this year. Itβs always a shame when the gardens are taken down, so we invited Charlie to recreate his show garden here, giving our guests and the general public the chance to appreciate his award-winning work.β
