Nurserymen and women from The Plant Fair Roadshow plan to raise funds to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Banardo’s and the 30th anniversary of NSPCC’s Childline this year with a specialist plant fair at Knowle Hill Farm in Ulcombe near Maidstone.
The event on Sunday 11th September will see nurserymen and women from the South East of England, and in particular Kent, showcase a wonderful selection of herbaceous plants, perennials, shrubs, bulbs and alpines.
Specialists such as Rose Cottage Plants, Usual And Unusual Plants, Swallowfields, Copton Ash, Pineview Plants, Sussex Fruit Trees, Little Omendon, Invicta Herbs and the Kent Group of the Hardy Plant Society will be among the exhibitors and sellers on the day. Quentin Stark, AKA The Plant Doctor, will also be on hand to give guidance and advice.
The Plant Fairs Roadshow is an association of independent specialist nurseries.
Organiser of the Ulscombe event, Colin Moat says: “there’s much to see at Knowle Hill Farm itself – it’s an enviable location, situated 400 feet up on the north downs with spectacular views south over the Kentish Weald. It’s the perfect location to host a Plant Fair Roadshow and we are particularly pleased to be doing it in aid of Banardo’s and Childline – both of whom have important anniversaries this year.”
Knowle Hill Farm’s garden is rich in plants all year round with with hedges, topiary and shrub borders delineating the different levels and creating distinct enclosures. There is also a meadow area of wild flowers and an impressive driveway planted with ribbons of different plants.
The plant fair will be held on Sunday 11th September from 11am – 4pm. Entry is £5 and there is plenty of parking onsite. Knowle Hill Farm, Ulcombe, Maidstone, Kent, ME17 1ES
