Leading wealth manager, Brewin Dolphin has donated the spectacular Cocosphere sculpture that formed part of its award winning 2016 RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden to Horatioβs Garden at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Spinal Injuries Unit in Glasgow.
Horatioβs Garden is a charity that creates and carefully cares for beautiful accessible gardens in NHS spinal injury centres, to provide gorgeous sanctuaries for patients and their family and friends.
Stephen Martin, Head of Brewin Dolphinβs Glasgow office and Rosy Hardy, designer of Brewin Dolphinβs 2016 RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden and winner of 21 gold medals will hand over the sculpture at the launch of the second Horatioβs Garden tomorrow where appeal Patron Melanie Reid will be officiating.
Respected nurserywoman Rosy Hardy achieved an remarkable silver medal for her first ever show garden for Brewin Dolphin.
According to Stephen Martin: βBoth Brewin Dolphin and designer Rosy Hardy were keen to create a legacy for the garden. It is always sad to see the show gardens disassembled after such hard work has gone into the design and building them. In this instance itβs exciting to know that the garden will live on at the fabulous Horatioβs Garden in Glasgow and can be enjoyed by others for many years to come.β
Horatioβs Garden is divided into six separate spaces, each with a different purpose and designed to stimulate different senses β sight, smell, touch and all providing a sense of wellbeing. Situated on a bed of carefully chosen shrubs, the Cocosphere sculpture provides a focal point for the scented garden.
This is the second legacy made by Brewin Dolphin to Horatioβs Garden. It donated a mature beech hedge from its Chelsea winning garden 2012 designed by Clive West, to Horatioβs Garden in the Duke of Cornwall Spinal Treatment Centre, Salisbury District Hospital.
Brewin Dolphin is based at 48 St Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5TS.
