Metal railings and gates manufacturer, Alpha Rail has been contracted by Ground Control UK to supply and deliver decorative flat top metal railings, bespoke trip rail and decorative gates as part of the regeneration works taking place at Stephens House, a Grade II listed house with extensive gardens.
Located in Finchley, North London, the original villa was built in 1859, and the land itself dates back to the 12th Century having significant ties to the Knights Templar.
In 1989, Stephens House was ravaged by fire and since then significant works are in progress to restore the property and provide a modern facility, to host conferences, business functions and in particular, a lavish wedding venue.
Funding for the Β£2.1m project, was awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, with a further Β£250,000 committed by Barnet Council.
After visiting the site to conduct a thorough survey and take measurements, Alpha Rail manufactured and supplied flat top metal railings featuring a decorative circular effect hooped insert and a striking spear shaped finial.
To deter visitors from walking on planted areas within the gardenΒ trip railΒ was installed. Each mounting post also featured a laser profiling effect to give a further decorative appeal.
In addition, a new 2 metre high decorativeΒ double leaf gateΒ was manufactured. The gate was positioned underneath an archway and required particular attention to detail during the site survey and measurement process.
Commenting on behalf of Ground Control UK, Tom Bruce said: “I have worked with Alpha Rail for a number of years now and they have always provided me with an exceptional service. The products they supply are delivered in a timely manner and are always of the highest quality.”
Phil Ball, sales director at Alpha Rail added: “Although we only play a small part in an overall project, I am proud that the products Alpha Rail manufacture have added to the authentic finish and helped bring iconic estates like Stephens House and Gardens back to life.”
