As the flower show season was drawing to a close, our September issue featured coverage of the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park, which showcases the very best of horticulture in the north.
We caught up with RHS Young Designer of the Year 2017, Ula Maria Bujauskaite about her award-winning garden, as well as RHS Young Landscape Contractor of the Year, Elliott Hood and RHS Young Planting Designer of the Year, Ben Poulter (Page 19). We also profiled three successful show garden relocations to find out what they involved and how they were carried out (Page 68).
We were also thrilled to use the September issue to launch the Pro Landscaper Business Awards, a cross-industry event taking place in February 2018 which will highlight those who make outstanding contributions to our industry and bring people together (Page 15).
Following its acquisition of Frosts’ landscape maintenance operations, we spoke to Peter Fane of Nurture Landscapes to find out how the company has achieved a £35m turnover in less than 10 years of operation, through both organic growth and a number of acquisitions (Page 16).
We met up with the very talented Charlotte Harris and Hugo Bugg following the merger of their individual studios to track their journey into garden design (Page 33), and VaRa Garden Design transformed a domestic garden into a selection of entertaining spaces in our Inspire section (Page 62).
The community in Camden showed overwhelming support for London’s answer to the New York High Line, so we spoke to Simon Pitkeathley of Camden Town Unlimited about why it chose to use crowdfunding and how the Camden Highline will benefit the area (Page 72).
As it reached its 21st year of operation, the Turfgrass Growers Association updated us on the issues and causes it is currently working on (Page 100), and we talked to Lauren Paige of Glendale about working on contracts at Gatwick Airport over the past few years and the diversity of the role (Page 125).

Majestic Trees held a Landscape Industry Symposium in September to celebrate the grand opening of its Visitor Advice Centre and 15 years in business. We featured a programme of events taking place throughout the day, which included a keynote address by Nicola Spence of DEFRA on biosecurity, as well as a brief history of Majestic Trees.
