Having last year completed one of its most successful years in the company’s 15-year history, TouchWood, one of the UK’s leading design, build and installation play companies, has appointed three new recruits in Bristol to help maintain the business’ ambitious business growth plans for 2018 and beyond.

TouchWood, which was formed in 2002, currently has a turnover of over £1m and now employs 12 members of full-time staff and apprentices. The company is located at the Bower Ashton Woodyard on the edge of Ashton Court Estate.

TouchWood’s team has been designing and constructing innovative, highly engineered playgrounds and adventure play areas for schools, councils, retail and leisure complexes and national visitor attractions throughout the UK and Europe.

Imogen Idelson is a design graduate from Arts University Bournemouth, where she specialised in timber construction; she joins TouchWood’s talented design team and will help to develop innovative play concepts for TouchWood’s clients.

Also joining TouchWood is Adrian Fawcett as workshop manager and Matt Taylor who is the new workshop assistant. Touchwood’s highly skilled team of craftsman provides a variety of traditional woodcraft skills, combined with cutting-edge design and technology, to create customised play equipment from sustainably-sourced local timber.

TouchWood’s founder and chairman Joe Cooper said: “We are delighted to be expanding our team further with such excellent new talent, at what is a hugely exciting time for the business. Last year was a highly successful year for the business, which included major natural play projects for the National Trust in the South West at Tyntesfield, Leigh Woods, Prior Park in Bath and White Cliff Parks in Dover. We also completed the UK’s largest-ever bespoke indoor timber play experience – William’s Den, a £3m play adventure in North Cave, Yorkshire.”

He continued: “2018 looks set to see even greater growth for the business, with several major retail and leisure projects already underway.”
