Project Giving Back to fund eight Show Gardens at Chelsea Flower Show 2022

Project giving back

Project Giving Back, a unique grant-making scheme, will fund eight Show Gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2022 and four smaller gardens in a new category, All About Plants. In total, PGB has committed to funding 42 gardens for good causes at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show from 2022 – 2024, all of which must have a relocation plan to ensure the garden lives on after the show.

The project has been established to give a significant springboard to the many incredible charitable organisations that, in the wake of the global pandemic, need a helping hand to raise awareness and funds to continue their important work for people, plants and the planet.

Now, Project Giving Back (PGB) has received over 200 expressions of interest from UK-based charitable organisations and garden designers keen to stage a garden with PGB funding at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2023. The team is now screening all applications ahead of the PGB Advisory Panel meeting in January 2022 to decide on a short-list for the next stage.

Project director, Hattie Ghaui, said: β€œThe response to our call for expressions of interest in a 2023 garden has been phenomenal. We have received interest from a really diverse range of good causes – many of whom have never exhibited at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show before – and it’s exciting to see so many different ways organisations are working to care for people, plants and the planet. We now have the privilege of considering them all and gathering further details ahead of our Advisory Panel meeting in January – with only 14 spots for show garden funding available, our panel members have some tough decisions ahead!”

Arne Maynard, garden designer and PGB Advisory Panel member, said: β€œWe are still in the very early stages of our application process for 2023, but we are already excited by the ideas and concepts we have seen. I’m really looking forward to considering our long-list in January – it’s wonderful to be involved in helping bring some truly inspirational gardens for good causes to the world stage at Chelsea.”

Applications for 2022 and 2023 are now closed.
