Eden Project apples have been harvested, prepared and served to visitors as part of a programme aimed at supporting young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).
The programme, Apply Academy saw a group of young people harvest what the Project calls an βimpressiveβ haul of apples from its orchard.
Participants then took part in an apple pressing demonstration, offering the freshly made juice to Project visitors. The remaining apples were used to prepare apple crumble and chutney by a group of participants, with the help of Edenβs head chef, Mike Greer.
βThe Apple Academy is just one example of the work going on at Eden, as we continue to help build relationships between people and aid them in gaining a wider understanding and connection to the natural worldβ, says Greer.
Participants are enrolled on the COMPASS project, a partnership led by Cornwall Council. It aims to support 1,800 young people aged 15 – 24 find their direction into education, employment or training throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
