Just days away from the application deadline, the Woodland Trust still has 300k trees available for schools and communities as part of its free trees scheme.
The Trust is urging schools and community groups to make their New Year a βpositive oneβ – by planting trees to boost nature, combating flooding, providing shelter and reducing pollution.
βThe UK needs millions more trees to reach its 2050 carbon net-zero target,β says senior project lead in woodland creation at the Trust, Steve Shill.
He adds that βTree planting is a great way to involve lots of people and get out planting to boost mental and physical health during these dark winter months.β
Tree packs come in packs of 30, 105 or 420 and in different varieties to suit the intended purpose, such as hedging, copse, for wildlife or wild harvest.
Applications for free trees close Monday 8 January. Apply now at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk.
