Creating a more equal, diverse and inclusive industry will take centre stage in the Pro Landscaper Theatre at this year’s FutureScape.

Taking place on the second day of the event, a panel of trade body representatives will cover how a business being more open to all can produce a more thriving workforce and attract more talent.

The SGD council’s education, diversity and inclusion lead Darryl Moore, the Association of Professional Landscaper’s general manager Phil Tremayne, and Green Roof Organisation’s vice-chair Chris Bridgman will also offer insight into Access All Areas, a group set up in 2022 to help the landscaping industry become inclusive and therefore more attractive to a diverse workforce.

Two years ago, Access All Areas members signed a charter at FutureScape, committing to a series of actions to help drive change.

At the start of this year, the group published the results of a survey which provided baseline figures for how diverse the industry is – figures on which they’re working to improve.

They have been holding webinars throughout the summer to highlight the importance of allyship and are forming an action plan to be rolled out this autumn – something that visitors will hear more about from the panel at FutureScape.
