A “refreshed” strategy from Marshalls aims to ensure the group outperforms the wider construction market by up to four percent.
At a Capital Markets Event hosted this week, the supplier set out a new plan to ‘Transform and Grow’, setting out medium-term financial targets.
Chief executive Matt Pullen says it has “clear potential to drive significant and sustainable long-term shareholder value.”
It is expecting to deliver an operating margin of 15 percent and is putting a ‘strong balance sheet’ as a key priority, with an annual capital expenditure of £20m to £30m and a net debt target of 0.5 to 1.5 times EBITDA.
Each of the group’s businesses, including its ‘brand powerhouse’ Marshalls Landscaping, will outline dedicated strategies to deliver market outperformance and sustainable profitable growth.
A section dedicated to ‘Building Tomorrow’s World’ has set climate-change focused goals around green urbanisation, low carbon solutions and water management and drainage as Marshalls seeks to cement a reputation for carbon leadership.
“It is a strategy that builds on the unique set of capabilities that our customers value: our leading brands; best in class technical design and support; and carbon leadership. Our growth will also benefit from the cyclical recovery and near-term structural and regulatory drivers in our end markets,” says Pullen.
