Over 40 organisations call on the government to recognise biodiversity net gain’s (BNG) role in supporting nature and sustainable growth.

Housebuilers, investment firms, and environmental groups including Barratt Redrow, Bellway, Triodos Bank, and RSPB England have signed the open letter.

The open letter, which is addressed to the secretary of state, outlines the role that BNG plays in nature recovery, growth and sustainable investment.

Highlighting how BNG can support the government in fulfilling its green agenda and meet house building targets.

Also detailing the legislation’s role in encouraging inward investment as it is expected to create £1bn in private funding for nature by 2030.

Concluding that they are ‘committed to championing the policy as a driver of environment recovery’.
