J Paxman Landscapes has been chosen to build the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) show garden, designed by Melissa Morton Garden Landscape Design for the Harrogate Spring Show next week.

Taking place in the Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate is expected to attract at least 40,000 people from 24 – 27 April.

One of six show gardens, Melissa Morton was selected to design ‘A Garden for Gathering’ featuring locally sourced materials, forest gardening, layering fruit trees and ground-level planting.

At just 9m x 6m, Morton says the “relatively small” space is a “challenge faced by many of my clients.” Going to say that she wanted to “create a feeling of spaciousness through a layout that enhances balance, harmony, and flow.”

It includes gravel, water features and willow fencing from Lightwater Quarries, Urbis Design and Estate Sawmills respectively.

The garden is also supported by paving and walling company Bradstone, and plant nursery JA Jones.

Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) accredited, Justin Paxman looks forward to building the garden with his son, Nathan this year. Four-time medal winners and most recently winning Gold back in 2017, He comments:

“It’s great to be asked to take on another show build with the APL at Harrogate after our earlier successes at the event. Equally brilliant is the chance to be working alongside Melissa, bringing her designs to life.

Recently accredited by the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers (SGLD), Morton says she was “delighted to be asked to design the APL’s show garden.”

There will also be a chance for visitors to discuss any garden queries with Morton, Paxman, and APL representatives at the garden.
