Blakedown Landscapes has completed the north street garden in Romford designed by Sally Prothero Landscape Architects.
The green space was commissioned by Romford BID in partnership with the London Borough of Havering.
Initially a temporary feature introduced in 2022, new government UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) funding has allowed the area to be a permanent fixture on Romford high street.
With a focus on sustainability, biodiversity and community use, the garden features new paving, pollinator friendly and drought tolerant planting, new street furniture, shade-tolerant trees, raised and rain garden planters.
Chris Wellbelove, managing director at Blakedown Landscapes says the company wants to create accessible public environments, adding:
“This project shows how even modest spaces can make a big impact when designed and delivered with care.”
Part of Romford BID’s plan to improve the high street, the garden aims to contribute through greening, accessibility and placemaking.
