A new community garden named after Charlie Chaplin has opened in Kennington, where the late actor spent part of his childhood.
London-based contractor NAO Landscapes helped to turn the former disused plot of land into a space featuring pollinator-friendly planting, informal seating areas, and natural landscaping.
Named βCharlieβs Patchβ, the garden is a partnership with theΒ London Borough of Lambeth,Β Berkeley Homes, and theΒ Changing Social Value Fund. Local residents help to shape the end result, which focused on biodiversity, inclusivity, and long-term community benefit.
βThis project was a real reminder of why we do what we do,β says Nick Osman, NAO Landscapesβ managing director. βTransforming an overlooked space into something that brings joy, nature and connection to the community is hugely rewarding. Weβre proud to have played a part in makingΒ Charlieβs PatchΒ a reality. β
