Grant Associates’ landscape design has been unveiled during the opening of Shenzhen Bay Culture Park’s latest phase.
Featuring a concept of lichens, unique hybrid organisations found in everyday environments, the design includes plazas, pathways and courtyards.
Agnes Soh, a senior associate at Grant Associates says the ambition was “to create a ‘slowscape’, a landscape that encourages people to pause, explore and reconnect with nature”.
Located within Shenzhen’s Houjai urban district, the culture park features two distinct zones that are unified by a network of interconnected landscape layers and features.
With green spaces, urban lounges, lush planting and roof gardens, the space also features a 1km-elevated walkway which stands as the “icon” of the Shenzhen Bay MixC masterplan, reads the design plan.
The international landscape architecture firm worked alongside developer China Resources and The Oval Partnership Ltd for the landscape design, planning and documentation of the new culture hub.
A mixed-used destination, the space can be used for fashion shows, sculpture exhibitions and culture events, too.
