In an effort to raise £10,000 for horticultural charity Perennial and sports injury support organisation Matt Hampson Foundation, Coles Nurseries will walk across the Sahara Desert.

As well as taking part in several other fundraising events during 2026, the fundraising team have been named ‘The Fantastic Five’.

The five features Coles’ in-house management training programme cohort, including Edward Coles, Laura Dakin, Isabelle Coles, Tom Tyler and Luke Hopper.

Isabelle says “we prepared a presentation for the senior management team of our plan, and instead of saying ‘this is crazy’ they went for it, and now I’ve found myself signup to disappear for a week at the beginning of November!”

Another event taking place includes Edward, who will take on a 24-hour running challenge around his local village.

Isabelle adds: “We’re going into this with the aim to hopefully raise more than the target we have been set.”

Coles plans to keep followers of its social media channels updated with The Fantastic Five’s progress, as well as introducing a GoFundMe page shortly.
