The National Site Standard for Female Operatives has been launched at the House of Lords by Construction for Women (CFW) to improve conditions for women within the industry.
Outlining 11 proposed changes, the new site intends to support women surrounding welfare provisions, PPE suitability, behavioural expectations, reporting mechanisms, safeguarding, psychological safety, and leadership accountability.
WFC has taken to LinkedIn to celebrate this milestone:
“It is designed to support greater consistency across projects and organisations nationwide, and to help improve retention and long-term participation of women in the construction workforce.β
Since the launch of the standard, there will be national expansion through institutions, procurement frameworks and public-sector clients.
As it continues, the standard will undergo an annual review ad continuous improvement led by CFW in collaboration with adopting bodies.
