Interior landscaping association plants@work celebrates its 25th anniversary after forming back in February 2001.
Originally set up as European Federation of Interior-Landscaping Groups (eFIG), plants@work held a day of celebrations at Provender Nurseries in Swanley, Kent.
Bringing together industry leaders for a day of networking, learning and reflection, plants@work also launched its new Pride Network.
The new initiative aims to support LGBTQ+ professionals within the horticultural and interior landscaping sectors to ensure “that as the industry grows, it remains a diverse and welcoming space for all,” says the association.
In celebration of the previous 25 years, the event also brought together previous plants@work chairmen as they reflect on the association’s growth. They were also given commemorative trophies for their dedication to the cause.

Kenneth Freeman, current chair of plants@work says “in 2001, we were often the ‘afterthought’βthe decorative finishing touch brought in once the ‘real’ construction was done.” He adds:
“But today, in 2026, the world looks different. We are no longer just ‘beautifying’ spaces; we are engineering wellness, cooling urban heat islands, and providing the lungs for the modern workplace. We have moved from ‘plants as furniture’ to ‘nature as infrastructure.'”
Ian Drummond, houseplant stylist and previous chairman of plants@work says it was an honour to be recognised during the anniversary celebrations:
“This year I am also celebrating my 40th year in interior landscaping and I feel more optimistic than ever for the success and future growth of this wonderful industry!”
