Works have begun on phase one of the long-term transformation of the Sentosa-Brani island cluster in Singapore.
Developed by landscape architects Grant Associates, the Greater Sentosa masterplan sets out a vision that repositions the islands as a resilient, world-class leisure and ecological destination.
Since breaking ground, the first phase marks the transition from strategic vision to physical delivery. It introduces major public-realm, mobility and coastal improvements with a new coastal hub, rejuvenated beaches and new nature trails and visitor destinations.
Andrew Grant, founder and director of Grant Associates says “the master plan represents a rare opportunity to think as true island scale – where ecology, experience and long-term resilience can be planned as one integrated system. It is hugely encouraging to see the first phase now moving into delivery, bringing that landscape-led vision to life.β
With the intention of reconnecting fragments habitats, strengthening coastal resilience and incorporating immersive tourist destinations, the masterplan was first revealed back in 2019.
The Singapore-based project now stands as a significant benchmark for integrated island master planning and how landscape strategy can shape the identity and future resilience of complex coastal destinations, explains Grant Associates.
