Lottie Delamain, garden designer and arbiter of positive change, has released a new book ‘Gardens That Can Save the World’.
The book has come out today, 12 March, which explores the many ways in which green spaces can be the solution to problems such as loneliness and climate change.
Featuring 365 colour illustrations, the book has been published by Thames & Hudsen, retailing for Β£30.
Written by Delamain with a foreword by Isabella Tree, the book includes 65 projects which demonstrate how gardens can “repair, heal, empower, nourish and reimagine,” explains Delamain.
“Itβs no longer just about aesthetics, but about what the great outdoors can do β save water, transform mental health, bridge social divides, educate vulnerable children, reimagine polluting industries and provide much reason for optimism in a rapidly changing world.”
It also features ten green thinker profile pieces and a glossary of plants, materials and techniques which intends to encourage readers to apply the lessons learnt in their own garden.
Delamain has preciously exhibited at RHS Chelsea Flower Show with a garden confronting the environmental cost of the fast fashion industry, while most recently exhibiting at Kew Gardens in collaboration with Chelsea College of Arts.
