A new heavy-duty reciprocating saw has been launched by Makita. The JR003GZ is the latest “outstanding addition” to the power tool manufacturer’s XGT® range, says UK marketing manager, Kevin Brannigan.
It’s powered by the brand’s 40VMax Li-ion battery and boasts a maximum cutting diameter of 220mm, with the ability to be used on a variety of materials such as wood, cast iron, iron and steel pipes.
The saw also has an adjustable stroke rate based on the material as well as constant speed control.
A newly engineered pipe clamp chain vice fixes it securely with a built-in spring, or it can be a standard reciprocating saw by attaching the front grip accessory supplied. The blade clamp can be easily replaced – which will need to be done frequently from heavy-duty use – by loosening the hex socket bolts without removing the shoe.
Key safety features include a soft start, an anti-vibration level of just 14.9 m/s2 during cutting to reduce operator fatigue as well as the front grip and grip shaft, to offer better control during cutting tasks. The saw has also been engineered for improved dust and water resistance for operation in harsh conditions.
“The brushless motor also ensures improved efficiency overall, increased power and longer life – it’s an all-round winner,” adds Brannigan.
