RHS Malvern’s People’s Choice winner to find new home at hospice

by | 15 May 26 | Garden Design, News

The ‘Lifted by Birds’ garden from this year’s RHS Malvern Spring Festival will be relocated by the Greenfingers Charity to the grounds of the James Hopkins Trust.

Designed by Tom Cave Saunders, Jon Pilling and Dr Amie Wheeldon, the garden won the People’s Choice Award at the four-day show, as well as a Gold medal.

The planting scheme combined native planting within a meadow matrix by Pictorial Meadows, designed to create a rich tapestry of habitats for birds.

The celebration of British birdlife will become a wildlife-rich environment for children, families, carers and staff at the hospice in Gloucester.

It’s an “incredibly exciting” opportunity, says Anne Price, trust director at the James Hopkins Trust. “Nature and sensory experiences can play such an important role in wellbeing, offering moments of calm, escape and connection during what can often be very challenging times.”

Paul Taylor Landscapers will be supporting the build, which begins in June and is expected to be completed the following month, with the official opening planned for the autumn.

It is one of more than 70 hospice gardens that the Greenfingers Charity has created in the UK, with a further 11 in progress.
