The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has announced that applications for the new Terrace Garden category are now open for the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2023, taking place from 19-23 July.
“RHS Tatton Park is excited to announce that 2023 is the year of the Terrace Garden. The show is looking for new and experienced designers to showcase their big ideas and planting prowess in this brand new garden category,” says show manager Lex Falleyn.
“This garden category seeks to explore how to maximise green space without compromising on practicality. We ask designers to propose beautiful planting options alongside clever design solutions and novel ideas to functional items. The RHS wants to highlight that gardens no matter their size, function or shape are a beneficial to wellness and wildlife.
‘’We’re really excited to bring this category to RHS Flower Show Tatton Park as we want to demonstrate that gardens can be a place of both function and form. We’re asking designers to come up with clever ways to blend everyday items such as bin storage and BBQs into a beautiful garden.’’
RHS Flower Show Tatton Park is also the home of the RHS Young Designer of the Year competition, where five applicants are selected to make their debut and have the opportunity to boost their garden designer careers. One of the finalists last year was Rachel Platt, who recently also became one of Pro Landscaper’s The Next Generation 2022 winners.
