A leading UK landscape company, Landform Consultants, is heading up the project for the Commonwealth Park in Gibraltar, the first public park on the rock. MD of Landform, Mark Gregory, the principle landscape consultant for the project, has spoken of his excitement about being involved in the first park in Gibraltar.
The park’s features will include a decking area, featuring contemporary art that will be rotated from time to time; a one metre deep pond in the centre with a cascading waterfall; a sculpture of the Rock is expected to be positioned near the pond area and pillars akin to the pillars of Hercules will greet visitors at the entrance.
The lighting scheme will include environmentally friendly LED lights – that will illuminate areas such as the Bastion walls alongside, some trees and the walkways. In addition, the grass and grass mounds will be illuminated with various effects such as a dappled leaf shining through.
