Perennial is the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works in horticulture, and their families, when times get tough.
People working within the landscaping, nursery, arboriculture and horticultural industries are, like so many others, really struggling at the moment. Perennial helped 1,618 families last year, a 10% increase on the year before. However, in the first week of lockdown the demand for Perennial’s services increased by over 400% and with the Covid-19 pandemic this is predicted to increase into next year.
The HortAid-20 campaign has been set up to ensure no one who needs Perennial’s support falls through the net.
During the Covid-19 pandemic Perennial can help in the following ways:
o Give advice and help you access the government support which is being put in place
o Help you make arrangements to reduce or delay bill payments including credit debts where necessary
o Provide financial assistance to cover essential items, particularly food and heating.

David Dodd, who will be hosting this week’s quiz said: “To be honest, I’m absolutely terrified about doing this as I don’t want to mess it up for such a good cause; which is why I’m asking for your support. Even if I say so myself, it’s quite a good quiz (not all horticultural questions) and I’ll try and make it as funny as possible (I’ll be asking for an extra quid to be donated for every joke I throw in!!)
So if you’re free on Tuesday evening (5th May) for an hour or so, get yourselves your favourite tipple, a few snacks, pull up a chair and join me for the HortAid-20 quiz. Just click below on the link to the web page on the quiz.”
