The curriculum provides a unique combination of practical and theoretical study, providing the opportunity to study top-level scientific and technical subjects, whilst gaining practical experience and responsibility working with one of the most comprehensive botanic collections in the world.
As employees of Kew, Diploma students receive payment for the duration of the three-year course (including lecture block trimesters) and there are no course fees.
As an independent qualification, the Kew Diploma in Horticulture is self-accredited by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. It is viewed as a higher education qualification and many universities accept an Honours grade in lieu of a bachelors degree (QCF level 6).

Curriculum vitaes are not acceptable and you must complete the on line application form in full. To comply with the two ticks appliction standard your personal details will not be disclosed to the selection panal at first sift so they will be judging the factual detail of your application – clear full details are very helpful as we have many applications to compare for this appointment and incomplete information may work against you.
The on-line form does require quite a bit of detail, once you have logged on, you can save your work at any time and come back to complete it, it is important to save your work before moving away from any screen. You can access the careers portal from the Kew website. It is important that qualifications are recorded in detail starting with the most recent and certicates should be uploaded. Certificates will be checked if you are called to interview when originals need to be brought. For employment also entered most recent first, remember to give a brief explanation of the main duties and explain any gaps in employment. You also need to complete an essay on your future career which can be added as a word document and a recent photograph (this will be used as a security check at interview and to identify you once we have interviewed you).
When you have completed all details it is recomended that you view a pdf of your completed form to check for any mistakes before submitting. Applications need to be submitted by 31 January 2015.
The recruitment softwear will keep you informed of your application, however, we will only contact those candidates selected for interview and those that we would like to encourage by offering career advice.
