by | 26 Feb 24 | Garden Design, News

From an experimental hidden grove, to an artistic reflection on environmental issues inspired by poet John Donne.

This year’s RHS Malvern Spring Festival promises an eclectic mix of designs reflecting traditional ideas and avant-garde concepts, says the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society).

With last year’s Best in Show and People’s Choice winner, Jamie Langlands returning with his first ever feature garden.

The Secret Garden sees an unconventional dance floor encompassed by wilderness, accessible through a disco polytunnel filled with greenery and a kaleidoscopic mirror ball.

As well as eight show gardens, with themes of childhood whimsy and outdoor living, to habitat revival and the human lifecycle.

It will include representations of the Victoria and Albert Temple, yew topiary and woodland planting, along with spring bulbs and border auriculas.

The Cotswold Garden

The garden, designed by Mark Draper, will include a self-supporting stone dome, over which natural spring will run.

With distinctive dining and lounging areas, meadow planting and border appeal. Draper is a designer for Graduate Gardeners, which has a long association with the festival and celebrates its half century anniversary this year.

The garden aims to create a place akin to childlike exploration and adventure with woodland-inspired planting.

It Doesn’t Have To Cost The Earth

Built by MJL Garden Design

Michael Lote’s garden pays tribute to the gardens in many housing developments across the UK, as it works to highlight the importance of native wildlife impacted by property construction.

The garden will be repurposed for the community at Woodoaks Farm in Hertfordshire after the show.

The Macmillan Legacy Garden

Built by Design It Landscapes

A thought provoking circular garden by Kerianne Fitzpatrick and TJ Kennedy. Giving visitors the opportunity to experience plants at different growth stages in parallel to the human lifecycle.
