Exclusive interview with CORE Landscape Products

Pro Landscaper speaks with CORE Landscape Products as it approaches a decade since it was founded.


You’re soon to celebrate your 10-year anniversary! With years of experience in the industry now, how has CORE Landscape Products changed and what can we expect in the future?

Here at CORE LP it’s certainly been a progressive journey from where we started to where we are now. As a family-owned business, we are so proud of our business and where we are today considering our humble beginnings; from taking our first delivery of CORE DRIVE into our back garden to now having five warehouses, with around 20,000 sq ft of storage.

Expansion has seen us take on a mixture of experienced staff members, and enthusiastic younger team members, which is great for the industry. Growth is often dictated by numbers, and with an increase of 185% in sales in the past three years, it’s great to see that natural evolution moving forward. In terms of the future, sticking to our core values of being the best of the best, offering a brilliant service and offering the best products we possibly can to our industry has to be the cornerstone of any business within our sector.

Over the last few years, we have seen you consistently update your products and bring exciting new ideas forward; is there more to come?

The landscape industry is full of great products, and we’re lucky as an industry for that. From us, we always want to offer customers the best their money can buy for that particular product or application. We hope as a company to introduce a variety of new products to the market, including an aluminium lawn edging – a variant of our CORE EDGE lawn edging range. A new equestrian grid is also in the works, and a lot of our effort is being put into introducing a ‘Road-Edge’ stabiliser to improve road safety and the conservation of rural roads. People really enjoy our decorative garden screens, so exciting new designs will be coming out and available soon!

With the current issue we all find ourselves in, how are you managing to accommodate your customers during the coronavirus pandemic?

 Of course, coronavirus has impacted the way in which everyone operates and certainly the way in which they receive their goods. We are working harder than ever with our couriers to ensure and achieve next day delivery across the UK, whilst closely following the advice and government guidelines. Customers have found difficulties with getting products and materials from some of the major DIY and home improvement stores, so we are trying to ensure that we can be as efficient and accommodating as possible.

As mentioned before, you’ve updated products or introduced new ones – are there products that you think give you a real identity?

Here at CORE LP, we’re proud that we have a variety of products that are both high quality and versatile. We offer hundreds of innovative problem-solving products, but of course every company has their best-sellers. We manufacture and supply the UK’s number one gravel stabilisation system, CORE DRIVE. It is a product range that accommodates applications from the domestic driveway right through to HGV access and commercial parking. It is a fantastic product range – and this year we hit a milestone, selling over one million sqm to date! Then we have our CORE EDGE Flexible Lawn Edging – which simply put has been a huge success. Customers come back to us over and over to buy and install more, and we get to enjoy the excellent feedback that goes with it – a bonus for any business.

So compared to where you are now, in terms of growth and where you see yourself this time next year – what’s the plan?

Well considering that we have welcomed five new team members since the start of 2020, we would of course like to stay on this trajectory and keep growing. We will soon be looking to take on new apprentices in our sales department. We are also looking to offer training sessions at our HQ in Buckinghamshire – practical sessions for our installers, and classroom based CPD sessions for architects and specifiers too.

We are also launching a new ‘Trade Only’ website very soon. From working on the other side of the tools, we know how important it is to be able to use your evenings wisely. Being on site throughout the day means you might not have chance to call up and get product quotes together – and so our trade site was born! This will allow our valued customers to log in, generate and save quotations, and swiftly order/reorder. We hope this will help ease the pressure throughout the day for our customers.
