Final nominations call for Lantra’s ALBAS awards

The deadline for applications for Lantra Scotland’s 2020 Awards for Land-based and Aquaculture Skills (ALBAS) is Friday 15 November. Rural employers, colleges and schools are being asked to put forward their top learners.

An independent panel of judges will then shortlist the finalists. Winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro on Thursday 5 March 2020. The ceremony will be hosted by farmer and stand-up comedian, Jim Smith.
The awards are open to learners in agriculture, aquaculture, equine, fisheries management, environmental conservation, animal care, game and wildlife, horticulture, trees and timber and land-based engineering.
The awards provide trainees of all ages with a springboard to succeed in their respective careers, as well as highlighting the need for businesses to invest in new entrants, training and skills development.
Liz Barron-Majerik, Director of Lantra Scotland said:
“Although the ALBAS are rightly focused on learners and trainees, they also provide the perfect way for their training providers and employers to get the credit they deserve. By recognising and celebrating the success and hard work of our new entrants, the awards highlight the support and achievements of everyone involved.
“With the closing date for nominations now fast approaching, we’d like to remind trainers, teachers and employers across the country to put forward their top learners and help us to recognise and promote the industry’s best talent!”
