Free walks, talks and demonstrations at The Royal Parks’ Horticulture Show

Do you know your geraniums from your giant rhubarb or ever wanted to know how bats see in the dark? From July 5 to 7, The Royal Parks will be hosting its very first Horticulture Show where you can ask the experts, join guided walks and learn what it takes to manage 5,000 acres of parkland.

The show will open daily from 12pm to 6pm, during the midweek of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park (BST Hyde Park).

As well as the free walks and talks, visitors will also have the chance to learn how to prepare a living wall and meet the teams behind the parks. There will also be a selection of special displays from Royal Parks partners and The Royal Parks Guild, including one illustrating the role of the Royal Parks during World War 1.

On July 5, local budding horticulturalists, photographers, jam makers and bakers will have their entries judged*, followed by two further days of talks and demonstrations.

On Wednesday and Thursday The Royal Parks will be hosting a ‘Royal Parks Question Time’. Panel members will be on hand to answer questions on tree management, wildlife and ecology, policing the parks and, of course horticulture.

As the show takes place during the midweek of BST Hyde Park, visitors will also be able to enjoy plenty of other free activities across site at ‘Open House’ which runs from July 4 to 7, including: free open air cinema, ping pong and badminton, a street food market and after school sports.
