Ian Drummond and Malvern Gardening Buildings team up for Virtual RHS Chelsea

Malvern Garden Buildings have joined forces with Ian Drummond, Indoor Garden Design’s Creative Director and celebrity plant stylist, to create a plant-filled ‘wobble room’ for Virtual RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2020.

Malvern Garden Buildings challenged houseplant expert and self-confessed foliage obsessive Ian to transform the contemporary Hanley Heritage garden room into a place to unwind, de-compress and de-stress in these testing times.

The idea was inspired by the work Indoor Garden Design are doing with Project Wingman. This project aims to give back to frontline NHS workers during the COVID-19 crisis by providing ‘First Class Lounges’ in hospitals. Here doctors, nurses and other key workers can be looked after during their shifts by furloughed, grounded and recently redundant airline crew. Indoor Garden Design has provided greenery to dress these spaces, bringing with them their own list of benefits.

Ian, author of houseplant manual “At Home With Plants” and @plantman_about_town, demonstrates how to create your own calming houseplant oasis, highlighting some of the houseplants chosen and why, as well as tips on how to care for them.

The lush interior contrasts with the industrial exterior of the Hanley Heritage with its Crittall style doors and windows. Used widely as a garden office for working from home, this building is the ideal place to escape from the stresses of the outside world. A calming refuge, the Hanley Heritage Houseplant Studio aims to highlight the health benefits of incorporating greenery into your indoor spaces.

The video will go live on the RHS website on Tuesday 19th May as part of Virtual Chelsea.
