Irrigation Innovation From Rain Bird

by | 08 Apr 24 | Partner Content

For irrigation professionals looking for value for money, low water volume irrigation, Rain Bird’s new Pressure Compensating Dripline (PCD) ticks all the boxes. It offers the same fast installation, durability in performance and water saving characteristics of the company’s established XFD On-Surface Dripline range – but is around just two thirds of the cost. PCD Dripline also features integral pressure compensating emitters. It is well suited to the irrigation of ground cover, dense planting as well as other landscaped areas.

The SQ Series Square Pattern Nozzle range has been extended with the ¾ Square Pattern version. They are particularly suitable for surface watering the perimeter of trees and shrubs whilst avoiding the trunk. These efficient and precise low-volume spray nozzles are also ideal for irrigating difficult corners and small areas such as narrow planting beds, shrub islands within residential, commercial or public landscapes and around pedestrian walkways.

From an installation design and layout viewpoint, the edge-to-edge pattern capability of the SQ Series ensures full coverage of an area and reduces the need for overlap. The number of nozzles required is therefore reduced, not only simplifying designs and decreasing material costs, but also significantly reducing installation times. The 1.4–3.5 bar SQ Series is pressure compensated and the square spray pattern offers efficient and virtually mist free controlled irrigation. This means optimum coverage for non-turf watering applications and reduced risk of overspray.

Rain Bird Flow Sensor technology is designed to monitor irrigation systems and identify any emerging problems. Leaks or line breaks, typically caused by root intrusion or groundworks could go unnoticed without flow sensors and result in damage to property or flooded landscapes. Designed to bring the advantages of flow sensing to the residential and light commercial irrigation markets, the FG100 Flow Sensor provides year round protection for the investment in an irrigation system by monitoring for high or low flow and instantly identifying when there is a leak or line break.

Information is fed back to a linked Rain Bird ESP-ME3 controller that supports flow monitoring and  remedial action can be undertaken immediately. When paired with Rain Bird’s Mobile App for iPhone or Android, which gives the user full control over flow settings, this can be conveniently carried out from any location. It is a low cost investment that will help in water conservation and recently won the Irrigation Association’s 2023 New Product Contest in the United States.
