Jacksons Fencing teams up with Titchmarsh to garden for a worthy cause

Jacksons Fencing helps create dream garden for hit ITV show Love Your Home and Garden for disabled teen and his single mother.

This autumn, Alan Titchmarsh’s second ITV series of Love Your Home and Garden will return to our TV screens. The programme recognises inspirational people who struggle with disability or serious health issues. As a huge thank you to their dedication Alan and his team gives their house and garden a surprise make-over, not only to make their lives a little easier, but also to improve their quality of life with a dramatic transformation. In the programme’s opening episode, Alan travels to Mansfield, where a single mother looks after her 15-year old son who lives with multiple disabilities. In spite of his love of the outdoors, the garden was totally inaccessible to him.

Alan and the team’s vision was to create an attractive garden perfect for relaxation. Along with design and theming, an important aspect was accessibility. As the son was previously unable to go into the garden, Alan wanted the teenager to be able to go outside and explore it with ease

Jacksons Fencing was on hand to help the project in any way it could. The garden products specialist donated 18 Woven fence panels to the garden, handpicked by Alan himself. Jacksons also sent a team of Approved Installers to Mansfield to assist in the garden’s renovation, and make sure the fencing was installed to Jacksons’ exacting standards.

The new fencing grants the garden privacy, creating a peaceful shelter, while still allowing enough light in for the family’s personal oasis. With this new boundary, a touch of style has been added to the garden design, providing a beautiful, traditional yet contemporary space for the boy and his mother to enjoy.

As the son is a wheelchair user, going out into the garden previously was not an option as it was uneven and without access ramps. To remedy this Jacksons Fencing installed decking throughout the garden to improve accessibility which included creating bespoke ramped decking, ideal for wheelchair use. The new additions make it much easier for him to traverse the revitalised garden and make the most of the outdoors.
