LI urges members to not attend ‘unofficial’ EGM

An Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) called earlier this week to discuss the Landscape Institute’s presidency dispute will not be “official”, says the organisation.
A statement issued by the Landscape Institute (LI) is urging members not to attend the EGM at the end of June and has asked “the requisitioners to reconsider their actions.”
The EGM was called by Brodie McAllister, who was removed from his position as president-elect last year following multiple allegations. McAllister says 145 members signed the requisition and the three requirements in the LI’s bylaws to proceed with the EGM had been met.
However, the LI says that it has still “not received a valid requisition and the requisitioners do not therefore have the powers under the By-Laws to convene a meeting. If the meeting goes ahead, it will not be a valid EGM of the LI and the LI would not be under any obligation to consider any motion or business conducted at the meeting.”
The statement concluded: “The Institute is committed to building a modernising and inclusive professional body, as well as responding to the UK’s changing culture and expectations of what is a well-run organisation that its members want to engage with, and which professional staff are proud to work for.”
