BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Mark Lane has been awarded the title of Landscape Designer of the Year 2020 in the prestigious BUILD Architecture Awards.
The Canterbury-based TV broadcaster, who runs Mark Lane Designs Ltd, is renowned for his sustainable and beautiful garden and landscape designs, which respect the natural world.
The award judges recognised Mark and his company for its expertise, dedication to client service and satisfaction, and commitment to excellence, quality and innovation.
Mark says: “I am thrilled to be chosen for this award, which recognises garden design firms that design gardens that are in-keeping with the surrounding environment, the wild space and its natural flora and fauna. We’re passionate about functional design that also builds on integrated structures and the spaces between, in and around them.”
Mark has a new book being published later next month. Royal Gardens of the World is a sumptuous exploration of 21 of the world’s most celebrated royal gardens, from the formal splendour of Versailles to the organic, sustainable Highgrove.
This is the sixth year of the highly anticipated BUILD Architecture Awards, which are held to reward the incredible works conducted by the world’s most innovative, imaginative and dedicated designers and architects. The awards recognise those that are pioneers in passive garden design, which incorporates local climate and environment.
