Last month saw the launch of the new Marshalls Graduate Scheme which is due to commence this summer. The scheme will look to recruit four graduates at each intake, each of whom will rotate around the four main areas of the business; sales, operations, marketing and corporate support.
The scheme will last two and a half years, at the end of which it is anticipated that the graduates will commence a permanent role in each of the business areas mentioned above. Marshalls is now starting to work in partnership with two main universities, the University of Leeds and Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as developing closer links with other local universities.
This is an exciting initiative for Marshalls, and focus on Early Careers is critical to ensuring there is a sustainable talent pipeline for the future. Marshalls is fortunate to have a highly knowledgeable, skilled, and well retained team; it’s not uncommon to find colleagues who have been with the business for over 25 years.
Phil Daniels, Marshalls’ people development manager said: “As Marshalls continues to grow and evolve, it is vitally important that we have the right people in place to whom expertise can be passed on, as well as developing the new skills and competencies that will inevitably be required in the future.”
He added: “Early Careers isn’t just about Graduates. We are now starting to think coherently about how to develop Apprenticeships too. We are currently identifying ways in which we can work in a closer, more targeted way with local schools, colleges and universities.”
