Mobilane joins Green Roof Organisation

by | 15 Mar 21 | News, Sustainability

Mobilane has joined the Green Roof Organisation (GRO) as supplier members.

Mobilane is a pioneer in the development of green roof technology and products with their MobiRoof green roof systems.
The Company is pleased to be able to support the organisation as they look to encourage the retrofitting of green roofs to existing buildings. They also promote installations of high quality green roofing in every city and town.
The GRO represents all elements of the UK green roof industry. This includes specialist contractors, suppliers, other trade bodies, NGOs, ecologists, architects and designers.
Aligned with Mobilane’s own aims, the GRO seeks to increase green roof use and development. They also want to increase the awareness of all the gains a green roof can bring in biodiversity, rainfall management and aesthetic appeal.
Alongside representatives from the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), the Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA), the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA) and British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI), Mobilane will take part in technical committees and events to help extend the reach of the green roofing industry.
This will include input and involvement in the updated edition and commitments within the GRO Code, an important reference document for all in the industry.

Mobilane to be involved with GRO Code

The GRO was established in 2008 in response to the demand for UK relevant guidance for the increasing number of green roofs being specified in the UK.

In 2009 work began on The GRO Green Roof Code of Best Practice for the UK, which wsa published in 2011.  Significantly based on the German FLL guidelines, adapted to suit the UK market, the original ‘GRO Code’ gained widespread acceptance in the construction market, being used as a reference document by standards bodies, specifiers, manufacturers and contractors alike. A collaborative production that  brought manufacturers, trade associations, non-profit organisations, Government Organisation’s and independent experts together the ‘GRO Code’ truly reflected the green roof industry of the time.

The current edition of the ‘GRO Code’ was published in 2014 and was expanded to encompass further clarifications, more detailed installation information and to reflect changes within the industry.
