Natural Paving Products sponsored garden wins BBC award

Natural Paving_one[2]Natural Paving Products (UK) Ltd has helped multi-award winning garden designer, John Cavill, 15 year-old Harry Ward and Dean Brown of Decol Construction win a silver guilt medal at this year’s BBC Gardeners’ World Live event.

Built on a slope, with one end sunk into the ground to a depth of half a metre, the aptly named Down the Garden wowed the judges with its creativity. As a mixture of both designers’ styles, Harry’s modern taste and John’s signature cottage look, the garden used Natural Paving Products’ Burnt Magenta sandstone flagstones from its Premiastone range and Graphite Vande Moortel Clay Pavers, creating multiple interlinking paths through all of its different areas.

Harry, the show’s youngest silver medal winner, had never previously designed a full show garden and was particularly happy with the news. Harry said: “I’m really pleased with the way our garden turned out and even more so with the judges decision. I can’t believe that I’ve won a medal two years in a row, it’s totally amazing.”

John Cavill commented: “It’s been great working with Harry, I’m sure he has a bright, green-fingered future ahead of him. The garden was a great success with the judges and indeed the visitors, with many people commenting on its originality.

“I’d like to thank all of our sponsors and in particular Natural Paving Products for their support. The colour and quality of the flagstones fitted in perfectly with the design and their delicately etched surface provided a vital dimension to the overall texture of the garden.”

Helping John and Harry was Dean Brown from Decol Construction Ltd, who installed the garden and brought the designs to life.  Dean used a Stihl chainsaw to shape some of the pieces of block paving, drawing praise from the judges who commented in particular on the skilfully cut paving stones.

The garden also drew attention from celebrity chef James Martin, who cooked up a BBQ storm on the paving as part of the BBC Good Food Show, which was running at the same time as the Gardener’s World event.

Malcolm Gough, Business Development Director at Natural Paving Products commented: “It was an absolute pleasure sponsoring such a talented team and we are very proud of them for winning their medal. The garden was a great opportunity for us to show the full potential of our products and to inspire a wide audience to have a go at creating their own paradise landscapes at home.”

Now the event has finished all the reusable materials from Down the Garden, including Natural Paving Products’ flagstones, will be donated to local charity projects.

BBC Gardeners’ World Live event has now completed its 22 year and is well established as the largest lifestyle event in the UK. The event this year took place at the NEC in Birmingham between the 12 and 15 of June.
