New equity, diversity and inclusion webinar launching this month

by | 05 Apr 24 | News

equality, diversity, inclusion

A webinar introducing companies to the need to position inclusion at the heart of their approach will be taking place at the end of April and at the start of May.

Two identical sessions, hosted by Gamiel Yafai from Diversity Marketplace, will allow people to confidentially give their feedback on their lived experiences as employees within the sector and what leadership could be doing to improve inclusion.

The webinar will explore the role that teams can have in supporting leadership to create a more inclusive culture in the industry and suggest actions that they can take to support colleagues through Allyship.

Attendees will be anonymous, as the webinars will be hosted on Zoom using technology which blanks out cameras, names and ensures confidentiality. Mentimeter will be used to collect and share the anonymised feedback.

The Horticulture, Arboriculture, Landscaping & Garden Media Sector webinar on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is open to all in the industry and is the start of a series of webinars to come from the Access All Areas group over the coming weeks and months.

These webinars are aimed at providing a better understanding of: the context of diversity, equity and inclusion; what an inclusive workplace looks like; the barriers to inclusion; the resulting microaggression; and the role that allies can play in creating an inclusive ecosystem.

Formed of the industry’s leading associations, Access All Areas members signed at charter in November 2022, committing to working towards a more diverse industry. They published the results of a survey last year that set a baseline from which they hope to progress and are developing an EDI strategy and programme of work.

The one-hour webinar is being held on Wednesday 24 April at 11am and again on Thursday 2 May at 6:30pm.
