    Nigel Bowcock – Acre Landscapes

    1. What would you say is the best thing about your job? The finished project – it never fails to impress me what can be achieved by a team of dedicated, professional landscapers. At Acre we endeavour to share and deliver the vision of our clients and it’s good to get positive feedback, even when a project has pushed us to the limit.

    1. What made you want to get into the industry? The fact that I spent my youth outside in gardens and parks and even when indoors spent my time looking out of the window.

    1. Challenges ahead in your work? To maintain and increase our market share and the service/cost/competitiveness balance in these increasingly austere times.

    1. How is the bulk of your work made up? At present we are securing more and more work for large developers. We are just completing a very large project in Chelsea involving the latest of landscape innovation. We are also involved in soft landscaping projects in Greenwich ready for the 2012 Olympics.

    1. Current trends in the market? Greater levels of competiveness. Last minute contract awards, which is hard as we have spent years explaining the benefits of long lead ins and early procurement.

    1. Your company’s plans for the next five years….. To increase our market share, gain a higher profile and keep going!

    1. How do you remain competitive? We keep our overheads down, buy from an engaged and keen supply chain, who share our ethos of top quality products at realistic prices. We also continually innovate by using the latest methods and products to give us the leading edge. We also strongly believe in staff training, retention and motivation to maintain our shared focus.

    1. Who are you inspired by? My father, one of the keenest gardeners.

    1. Favourite film and TV shows… Zulu and Never Mind the Buzzcocks

    1. One thing you want to do before you’re too old? Win a Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal.

    1. Countryside or seaside? I enjoy and live next to both.

    1. Your proudest achievement? My family.

    1. Favourite song? The Liquidator by Harry J All Stars.

    1. Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter? The optimism of Spring.

    1. Where’s your favourite holiday destination? Ibiza Town.
