One man, two marathons in two weeks – Nigel Bowcock, Acre Landscapes

Many people will have heard about Nigel Bowcock’s challenge to run two marathons in two weeks.  Nigel, MD of Brighton based landscape company, Acre Landscapes, pledged to run two marathons (Brighton and London) in two weeks to raise £5,000 for Perennial.

Nigel, who is also a Board Member of BALI, completed the Brighton Marathon on Sunday and was back to work first thing on Monday morning. His fundraising total now stands at just over £2,000 and he’s hopeful he will reach his target.

Nigel bHe said about the race on Sunday:

“It was the most amazing event, with a party atmosphere all the way around. I ran alongside amazing people such as two Sikh soldiers and a man dressed as a shoe! What a day, but OMG the pain! I hit the wall at 21 miles and couldn’t feel my legs for the next 3 miles, but endeavoured to run through it. At times it’s like running through treacle, but then someone shouts out your name and encourages you to stagger onwards. Running with 10,000 people is pretty amazing and it was great to get my medal at the end from a mate.

Unfortunately when I bent down to get the medal, I could hardly straighten up afterwards! What can I say? It was so great, and I am doing it all again in two weeks time at the London Marathon (GROAN) must be mad –  I am mad! But it’s all in a great cause. Thank you so much all of you who have donated so far and those of you who have pledged to sponsor me, it would be great to see the money coming in, as this will motivate me to stagger through the next marathon. I am running for Perennial, an amazing charity that helps horticulturists when the going gets tough. Please dig deep and help me reach my target. I am match funding up to £2,500 so for every £1 you give Acre Landscapes will donate a further £1, so we can raise some serious money with your help.”
