Pro Landscaper TV – Climate Change: The Story So Far

Pro Landscaper’s head of content Nina Mason plays host to three experts on sustainability and climate change in a webinar looking at what some of the businesses in the sector have done so far to combat the effects of climate change.

Joining Nina on Tuesday 11 May 2021 is Ben West, the managing director of Landscape Solutions, Romy Rawlings, the commercial director of Vestre and Darren Daley, the head of client services at Ground Control.

Ben West spent his formative years tramping the woods, fields and waterways of Staffordshire and studied environmental management at Keele University prior to relocating to Surrey and setting up Landscaping Solutions in 2005.

The firm has achieved multiple RHS medals and BALI Awards in the intervening years. Now in his 28th year in the landscaping industry, Ben wishes to use his passion for natural landscapes and ecology to direct the future trajectory of the firm and to ensure clients and the wider community consider nature when planning landscaping schemes.

Romy Rawlings is a Chartered Landscape Architect and Commercial Director for Vestre Ltd, a Norwegian manufacturer of street furniture. Romy’s entire career has been based in the landscape sector, with the last 14 years being spent predominantly working for manufacturers of landscape materials.

Passionate about the impact of good design (and delivery) upon those using outdoor spaces, Romy strives to promote best practice in every aspect of her work and believes landscape professionals are well placed to counter many of today’s global issues through their everyday work – a post-Covid green recovery, growing urbanisation and ever-increasing levels of migration, climate change, enhancement of biodiversity to name a few.

Darren Daley is representing Ground Control – a landscaping business that has just achieved carbon neutrality. The Essex-based business with contracts all around the country, is aiming for net zero in the not too distant future.
