To all those at FutureScape 2019 asking Pro Landscaper to step forward in leading the charge to combat climate change, we heard you and we agree. We’re starting the year how we mean to go on – with the magazine arriving every month in more sustainable packaging.
The new packaging is compostable and can be disposed of in your household garden or food waste bin. Made out of Polycomp TM it uses biopolymers, which are obtained by means of pioneering proprietary technologies using starches, cellulose, vegetable oils and their combinations. Polycomp TM conforms to EN13432 so is compostable in open air as long as there are micro-organisms to break it down. This means it can be printed with the “OK HOME compost” logo.
This new packaging guarantees a minimum of 90% of the material will compost in 12 months, after the film is put into an environment with the micro-organisms.
Speaking about the new packaging, managing director Jim Wilkinson said:
“It’s important that we find the most environmental way of delivering Pro Landscaper to its readers. We have recently signed up to two great initiatives; the first involves the way the magazine is packaged. Gone is the plastic sheeting, replaced by a compostable material. Secondly, for every tree used in the production of Pro Landscaper, three trees are planted to replace it”.
