Pro Landscaper’s Lockdown Little Interview
David Dodd, The Outdoor Room
So you’re self-isolating…who’s your favourite person to be locked up with? Darren Skidmore. He just makes me laugh… but I’m not sleeping with him. If I have to sleep with them, I’ll swap Skidders for Halle Berry.
Name one thing that’s changed about your daily routine that you’re going to take forward after lockdown’s over? Zoom and corned beef with ketchup sandwiches.
How many cups of tea/coffee are you now drinking per day? 4 or 5, which is far less than normal as I’ve got to make them at home.
Best new Netflix/boxset series or book you’ve discovered? Money Heist on Netflix by a mile.
What do you miss most about life before lockdown? Football, pub and eating out.
DIY vs gardening – which wins? Gardening all day long.
What time is wine o’clock? Beer o’clock 7.00pm (2 maximum) Wine o’clock 9.00pm (1 bottle between 2).
When working from home is your background choice radio/tv/silence? Silence. I’m too easily distracted. I watch an episode of Money Heist at lunchtime. I’m actually listening to Toots and the Maytels as I’m writing this and I keep stopping for a little dance…I told you I’m easily distracted.
In hindsight, what would you have prepared in advance (ie food/diy products etc)? Fish fingers and topdressing (not together).
Is the government doing a good job of keeping you informed? No! I think it’s important to be apolitical at times like this and I understand it must be very difficult for the government, but I feel their information is often deliberately ambiguous. Still, it could be worse, we could be told it’s okay to inject ourselves with Domestos.
What’s your predicted date for return to normality? The Outdoor Room is planning on returning to work on the 11th May following social distancing guidelines.. I still feel there’s a huge danger of a spike in cases of coronavirus if people return before then. As for normality; I think we’re a year away from that!
Best new follow on social media? @vizcomic and @joelycett
