Grounds maintenance contractor, Quadron Services, was delighted to assist the Friends of Grange Park Play Area by sponsoring their autumn bulb planting event at Grange Park in Old Coulsdon, Croydon.
Quadron donated 3,500 crocus and daffodil bulbs, as well as tools, gloves and other materials for the ‘Growing in Grange Park’ event, which took place on Saturday 8th November.
Over 200 local residents braved the cold and showery weather to plant the bulbs, as well as enjoying activities including face painting and a cake stall arranged by the park’s Friends group.
Adrian and Brian from Quadron’s Croydon contract led the planting activities, ensuring that the equipment was used correctly and the task carried our safely. Quadron also provided compost and pots, and many of the attendees enjoyed planting up their own pot of spring bulbs to take home, in return for a donation to the Friends of Grange Park’s play area renovation fund.
The event concluded with a popular ‘Welly-wanging’ competition, run by the local branch of the Air Cadets, and a total of £622 was raised towards funding renovations to the park’s play area.
Hannah Price-Harries of the Friends of Grange Park Play Area was thrilled with the success of the event. She says, “The Friends of Grange Park Play Area would like to extend their sincere thanks to Quadron Services for their generous support in helping us to hold our Autumn bulb planting event. Over 3,500 bulbs, which were generously donated by Quadron, were planted in Grange Park by local people, including young families, who attended our event. This was so popular an attraction that we ran out of bulbs with over an hour to go before the end of our event!
“We would like to thank, in particular, Quadron’s Adrian and Brian, who enthusiastically worked with local people to plant up bulbs, despite the abysmal weather conditions. They were polite, hard-working and a pleasure to have supporting us at our event. Further, Andrew Kauffman took the lead in much of the planning for the day, helping us to pull off the event at relatively short notice, even corresponding with us extensively while overseas on a family break to ensure that the event was meticulously planned. This dedication in the corporate world, speaking from my own experience, is unique.
“We look forward to working with Quadron Services in future and are very grateful for your generous support.”
Quadron’s Corporate Development Manager, Andrew Kauffman, commented: “As a community-focussed company we look forward to working closely with stakeholder groups and encouraging active involvement in their green spaces. It was great to see so many members of the local community of all ages exercising their green fingers in the park, in spite of the less than favourable weather conditions.
“Quadron was pleased to support the Friends of Grange Park as they strive to raise match funds to improve the park’s play facilities and we look forward to being involved in similar events in the future.”
