    2018 RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year finalists announced

    Wonder Weed Puller by Burgon & Ball Ltd; Fruit Tree Sleeves by Agralan Ltd; Natural custom- made rock stream by James Doran Webb

    The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) announced the final shortlist of products competing for the prestigious RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year award. The award recognises the best new garden products with entries judged on a number of criteria, including innovation, visual appeal, functionality, quality, value for money and environmental sustainability.

    The shortlist of finalists includes an eclectic mix of 12 of the latest innovative gardening products all of which will be available to buy both at the show and online. They include Chesneys HEAT 500, an easy to use dual functioning barbecue and outdoor heater, a natural custom-made rock stream by James Doran Webb, complete with its own water system and custom-made of natural stone and Fruit Tree Sleeves by Agralan Ltd, a tube of fine mesh netting with ties at each end, used over a branch to protect ripening fruit.

    The 2018 RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year will be awarded at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Press Day, Monday 21 May, and will be chosen by a team of experts including esteemed entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den investor, Deborah Meaden.

    Deborah Meaden said: “It is a great pleasure to be back on the judging panel for the RHS Chelsea Product of the Year. Every year the calibre of designs gets better and better and I cannot wait to see what pioneering gardening product takes home gold in 2018.”

    Other shortlisted products include Wonder Weed Puller, Dalefoot Bulb Compost, Skal, Traditional Wall Greenhouse, The Green Wall, Optigrow, Niwaki Garden Shears FSC, Verona Sofa and EasyPrune.

    The competition was launched in 2011 to recognise and celebrate the best new garden products on the market.
